The million dollar question “can I use a straw after bariatric surgery?”🥤 Well, like everything, it depends! Sure, if they cause a lot of gas/bloating or you find yourself taking huge gulps of water then we want to avoid using them. I wouldn’t recommend trying them immediately post-op while you are still healing and experiencing a lot of gas as is! However, you don’t have to avoid straws for the rest of your life. For many of my clients it actually helps them to sip more fluids throughout the day! Now I always recommend you adhere to your surgeons guidelines, but there is no evidence to support that using a straw would stretch out your pouch 🙌🏼 Need more support?
