Probably a lot of you can relate to this one. You’re in a nice rhythm during the…

Probably a lot of you can relate to this one. You’re in a nice rhythm during the week, eating a lot of healthy meals and minimizing liquid calories. Maybe being a biiiit restrictive and inflexible, but overall nailing your calorie targets and staying in a moderate deficit Mon-Thu.

Then Friday hits. You do pretty well for breakfast and lunch, but then the evening rolls around. You’re out with friends, and before you know it you’ve consumed 1800 calories of fried food and beer.

Then Sat comes around and the roof just blows off of your whole dieting operation. You try for breakfast, but have more fried food for lunch. A LOT of pizza in the evening, and even more alcohol. You’re just trying to have a good time, and you’re being a bit generous with your “estimations” of how many calories you’re consuming.

Before you know it, you’ve completely erased your weekly deficit and even gone into a small surplus. Your progress that week stalls.

What’s my point? Don’t enjoy yourself on the weekend? Not at all. Far from it. I’m all for being flexible and having a good time with friends on the weekend, AND during the week. Don’t overly restrict, period. Just be aware of how fast those cals can add up and fit it into your weekly targets. A bit of pizza and a drink or two is perfectly fine, but if you want to keep progressing and getting leaner then you need to be realistic and fit it in to your weekly targets.

As always, moderation and being flexible win the day. Enjoy the weekend my friends, but don’t let it stall your progress.
